“Chiropractic is not designed to make you instantly feel better, it’s designed to make you instantly heal better.”

Each adjustment helps your body heal, and move towards wellness and vitality. A Chiropractic adjustment is performed to correct the vertebral subluxation.

Sometimes you hear a pop sound, which is not your bones but rather gas bubbles being realised as the interference is cleared.

We know that pain is often the last symptom that our body uses to show us that something is wrong. When you have your first adjustments, you don’t necessarily feel your body getting better right away, sometimes you feel worse before you start to feel better. Underneath this, your body is doing all the hard work to heal and healing takes time.

Before you arrive for your first visit you will receive forms to fill out online to enable the chiropractor a deeper understanding of your health history. When you arrive, your chiropractor would have already gone through your initial form. They will then ask any further questions relating to your health history, to better understand you and your health goals. The chiropractor will conduct neurological, orthopaedic and chiropractic specific examinations as well as a full bio-structural examination. This is all done to assess your brain and body connection and ensure that chiropractic can help you. If your chiropractor is unable to help, they will refer you to another health specialist better suited to your needs. At your second visit, we will discuss your examination results as well as provide you with a care plan to help you reach your specific health goals.

If you decide to start your health journey with us, as it has been established through the intake that we can help you, we always start with the first phase of care. This reset phase or as we sometimes refer to it the intensive phase, is where our bodies go through the most changes. Here our goal is to stop old neurological patterns (Caused by physical, emotional and chemical stress) and allow the body to adapt better to the surrounding environment. We need to constantly remind the body to make these changes to help it move closer to a state of ease. We normally see you two or even three times a week in the reset phase, depending on how long your body has been in a state of stress and the chronicity of your problem.

In the rebuild phase, the body begins to stabilize and we are able to reduce our chiropractic visits. By now the body is able to adapt better to the environment and develop new neurological pathways to function at its best. Initially when we decrease the frequency between your chiropractic visits, your body may feel as though it is changing and maybe moving back into its old patterns. Shortly after this your body once again stabilizes as it rebuilds new healthy neurological habits. As we move forward, you and us will know that your body is now beginning to heal. We normally see you once a week or once every two weeks in this phase, depending on how quickly your body adapts to these changes. We will conduct regular progress examinations to check your progress and revisit your goals to ensure you are on track.

Just like we go to the gym to maintain our muscle function or to the dentist to prevent cavities, so should we have daily healthy habits in place and have our nervous system regularly checked by a chiropractor. This is so our body can remain in balance, function at a higher level and prevent any new problems from occurring. Our goal here is for chiropractic care to become part of your healthy lifestyle with the aim of helping you live a long and healthy life. Visits to the chiropractor for wellness can occur regardless if you have any symptoms or pain. Together we can decide what frequency serves your health and goals best.
